Applications will be accepted starting
June 1, 2021, at 9 a.m.

The Rockland County Department of Social Services has received an allotment of funds from the U.S. Department of Treasury for rent and utility arrears; and rent and utility assistance, to be paid to landlords on behalf of tenants who have experienced unemployment or a reduction in household income; or incurred significant costs, or experienced other financial hardship due directly or indirectly to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The program goal is to stabilize housing by minimizing homelessness and prevent housing loss for Rockland County tenants. Currently, Rockland County is awaiting further State and Federal guidance on program specifics. Once the program eligibility requirements and application process are finalized, the Rockland County Department of Social Services will officially announce the program’s opening.

Rockland County will be partnering with New York State in implementing this program. New York State has released guidance on its program’s policies and procedures along with Frequently Asked Questions, which can be viewed here: https://otda.ny.gov/programs/emergency-rental-assistance/
